●     Brand Name: Stivarga® 

●     Generic name:  regorafenib

 

●     Uses:  Stivarga® is for adults with metastatic colorectal cancer who have previously been treated with other medications.

●     How it works:  Stivarga® slows the growth of tumor cells in the colon and eventually kills the tumor cells.  Stivarga® also helps to stop tumor cells from spreading into other parts of the colon.

 

●     Most common side effects:  Tiredness, weakness, fatigue, loss of appetite, diarrhea, swelling of mouth, throat, stomach, and intestines, weight loss, infections, and voice changes or hoarseness.

●     Serious side effects:  Liver problems, severe bleeding, skin problems, skin rash, high blood pressure, a tear in your stomach or intestines, wound healing problems, and a reversible condition that causes headache, confusion, seizures, and visual loss called leukoencephalopathy syndrome.

 

●      Who cannot use this medication:  Children cannot take Stivarga®

 

 

Zaltrap ® (ziv-aflibercept)

●      Brand Name: Zaltrap ®

●      Generic name: ziv-aflibercept

●     Uses: Treatment of colorectal cancer

●     How it works: Blocks growth in colon cancer

●     Most common side effects: High blood pressure, weight loss, decreased appetite, stomach pain, diarrhea, inflammation in the mouth, nose bleed, tiredness, protein in the urine, decrease functioning of the kidney, low white blood cell count, headache, difficulty speaking

●     Serious side effects: Chest pain caused by part of the heart muscle not getting enough oxygen, blood clot in the lungs, bleeding in the lungs, kidney damage, stroke, bleeding in the brain

●     Who cannot use this medication: Those who experience an allergic reaction to this medication
