Linzess ® (linaclotide)


      Brand name: Linzess ®
      Generic Name: linaclotide

      Uses: For the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (condition that causes abdominal pain and cramping)  with constipation; constipation from unknown cause
      How it works: Helps the intestines to work better by helping to promote movement and decrease pain 

      Common Side effects: abdominal pain, diarrhea, gas
      Serious Side effects: severe diarrhea

      Who cannot use this medication: children, (under 18 years old), blockage in the intestines

     ●      Dose: Available as 145 mcg and 290 mcg capsule
    For constipation:
                                             145 mcg by mouth once a day at least 30 minutes before the first meal of the day
    For Irritable bowel syndrome with constipation:
                                            290 mcg by mouth once a day at least 30 minutes before the first meal of the day
